Why You Should Make This Recipe

    • This onion jalapeño cheeseburger recipe feels like a burger you would find on a restaurant menu, yet it's actually simple and easy to put together.
    • It's jam-packed with flavor! Savory, spicy, juicy, absolutely delicious!
    • Great to make for a barbecue with friends and family, a crowd-pleaser burger for anyone who enjoys a little heat. Serve with fries, onion rings or tater tots.

    Key Ingredients and Variations

    • Ground beef: for a juicy burger, I recommend using 80/20 or 85/15 ground beef. Lean ground beed works too but might be a tad more dry so don't overcook it.
    • Buns: use good, soft buns like brioche buns.
    • Onion and jalapeños: I used a yellow onion, you can use white too. When dicing the jalapeños, scoop out the seeds and membranes to taste as they hold most of the spice.
    • Cheese: I chose extra sharp cheddar for this burger as it's very flavorful and compliments the heat from the jalapeños, feel free to use American cheese if you prefer.
    • Ranch dressing: it's the perfect condiment for this recipe. If you don't love ranch, you can use a garlic aioli or mayo.
    • Tomatoes and shredded lettuce: adds texture and freshness.

    • Control the heat level by keeping or removing the jalapeños seeds and membranes.

    • Don't overwork the beef patties when forming them.
    • Ground beef is recommended to be cooked medium to medium-well, about 145° to 155° Fahrenheit when checked with a meat thermometer.
