Onion and Jalapeño Cheeseburger

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef divided by 3
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 onion diced into ½-inch pieces
  • 4 jalapeños diced into ½- inch pieces
  • ¼ iceberg lettuce shredded into about 3 cups
  • 1 tomato sliced into 6 slices
  • 1 tablespoon ranch dressing
  • 3 slices extra sharp cheddar cheese
  • 3 burger buns

Instructions

  • Form beef patties and dice onion and jalapeños. Season both sides of burgers with salt and pepper.

  • Preheat grill on high for 10 minutes. Add empty grill basket on one side of the grill, and preheat for the last 2 minutes.
  • Add beef patties to the grill. Spray the grill basket with oil and add the onion and jalapeño. Spray again. Stir veggies every few minutes.
    Grill the burgers for about 6 minutes then flip with spatula.

  • After flipping add a spoonful of grilled onion and jalapeño to each patty.

  • Add a slice of cheese to each.

  • Add one more spoon for veggies on top of the cheese, then close the grill lid and cook for 2-3 more mins or until burger reaches the temperature of 145°-155° when checked with thermometer. Remove patties and place on plate.

  • Toast buns on the hot grill for a few minutes. Then assemble the cheeseburgers: spread ranch on bottom bun, add tomatoes, shredded lettuce and the cooked patties. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • If you don't have spray cooking oil, toss the diced onion and jalapeño in a little oil before adding to the grill basket.
